“29:1-12. The next prophetic Woe is pronounced against Ariel, the city where David dwelt. Ariel is another name for Jerusalem, and means “Altar-hearth,” or the place of burnt offerings. The prophet condemns religious formality, pointing out that their empty religion will not stop the judgment of God.
