“6:10-14. Shemaiah claimed to have a special revelation about a plot against Nehemiah’s life and suggested they meet in the temple, since it would provide the only place of refuge. This suggestion unmasked his evil intentions. Nehemiah knew that God could not have led him to break the Mosaic injunction against laymen entering the temple (Num. 1:51; 18:7).
